US seizes Iranian vessel in Indian Ocean operation

 
United States forces have seized an Iranian vessel during an operation in the Indian Ocean, escalating already heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran amid an ongoing regional crisis.

According to the United States Department of Defence, the ship identified as MT Majestic was allegedly transporting oil from Iran when it was intercepted and taken into custody. US officials claimed the operation was part of broader efforts to enforce international maritime laws and disrupt networks accused of supporting Iran’s economic activities under sanctions.

The Pentagon stated that such actions are aimed at curbing what it described as illegal shipping operations and ensuring compliance with global maritime regulations. However, details about the vessel’s crew, cargo status, and its final destination have not been fully disclosed.

This development follows a similar incident earlier in the week, when US forces reportedly targeted and seized another Iranian-flagged vessel, MV Tosca. Footage of that operation was released by United States Central Command, showing troops boarding the ship at sea.

In response, Iran has demonstrated its own show of force. Authorities in Tehran released footage claiming the seizure of two vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical choke-point for global oil shipments. The tit-for-tat actions highlight the fragile security environment in key maritime routes.

The incidents come amid a broader geopolitical standoff involving the United States, Iran, and regional allies, with concerns growing over the safety of international shipping lanes and the potential impact on global energy markets.
